Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the relationship between a client and a mental health provider, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.

Exceptions include:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which we are required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, we must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
  • If a client intends to harm himself or herself, we will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, we will take further measures without their permission that are provided to us by law in order to ensure their safety.

What we expect from our clients?

Please read our Practice Guidelines before your first session. You will be asked to sign this form acknowledging your understanding and agreement to these guidelines before treatment is initiated.

Clients can schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments online, fill out forms, change contact information, take psychological tests and view results, and send direct messages to their provider.

Comprehensive Psychiatric Assessment
Prior to the initiation of treatment, a comprehensive psychiatric assessment will be performed. In some cases, a laboratory workup, EKG, and/or other diagnostic procedures may need to be ordered prior to being prescribed certain medications. This may be necessary to rule out common medical conditions that can mimic a number of psychiatric symptoms. Once the client is medically cleared and a psychiatric diagnosis has been established, education is provided regarding diagnoses and a range of treatment options are presented. We then work together with the client to formulate a tailor made treatment plan that will produce maximum therapeutic response.

Medication Management
Being that our practice is based upon a holistic framework of care, we believe that optimal treatment for most mental health conditions involves a combination of several therapeutic methods, which may or may not include some form of psychotropic medication. Although some clients are able to recover with counseling alone, many will need to be on medication for at least a short period of time, depending on the condition. If it is felt that the client requires treatment with psychotropic medications, both traditional and alternative medications will be considered.

Psychotherapy & Referrals
We believe that our clients are served best when matched with a licensed professional counselor who specializes in the particular type of therapy that is required. Therefore, if we feel that we are unable to meet the specific therapeutic needs of a client, referrals may be given to outside mental health professionals. We have compiled a list of reputable counselors, therapists, psychologists, and alternative medicine providers in the local area as a resource for our clients so that the best match can be made.

Education & Prevention
We believe wholeheartedly in the notion that knowledge is power, therefore, we strive to provide our clients with the latest evidence-based information about their condition, treatment options, and preventative strategies, as well as current issues in mental health care. We make every effort to maintain a comprehensive database of resources on our website for our clients, and allocate time at the end of each work day to respond to client calls and correspondence. Before the end of 2017, we hope to have several support groups in place as well - more information to come.

Legal Consultations/Other
Psychiatric evaluations for individuals involved in legal proceedings are offered to current clients only. We do not accept any new clients who require psychiatric testing solely for legal purposes.  Additional services may also be provided (e.g., evaluations for disability, bariatric surgery, employment, etc.) - prices vary depending on each case and what is required. For more information, please call our office to set up a meeting with our providers.

Diagnostic services and pharmacological treatment are offered for mood disorders, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorders (child & adult), ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), schizophrenia/psychoses, trauma/stress-related disorders, dissociative disorders, sleep/wake disorders, and impulse-control disorders. Various forms of psychotherapy are also provided. We plan to hold support groups for substance abuse/addictions, trauma, and personality disorders in the very near future. Check back for details.

Please print thehighlightedforms, complete them, and bring them with you on your first visit.

NOTE: Once the safety and effectiveness of any newly prescribed medications have been established, patients are generally (but not always) placed on a three month maintenance schedule. If a client requires more frequent or intensive services, payment plans may be set up to help ease the financial burden. We maintain a dedicated phone line for our clients to contact us between appointments so we can address any questions and/or concerns about medications and therapy.

*** In the event of an emergency (i.e., suicidal or homicidal thoughts, hallucinations/psychosis, adverse/allergic reaction to medication), clients are advised to seek treatment at the nearest emergency room.

We do NOT accept any health insurance plans at this time.Instead, we provide innovative and effective mental health services at VERY reasonable prices.  Flexible payment plans are available. Please call us to discuss the various options. We strive to make our services available to all individuals in need, regardless of their ability to pay.

*** We strongly encourage ALL of our clients who are prescribed medication to engage in some form of talk therapy/counseling, and to consider possible alternative and/or complementary therapies. If we feel that a client would benefit from additional services that are outside our areas of expertise, referrals will be provided.
