What is holistic wellness and how is it related to mental health?

Psychological well-being is shaped by multiple inter-related systems (medical, psychological, social, psychiatric, behavioral, lifestyle, spiritual, etc). Clinicians trained to understand and work within multiple systems have a better chance for a global understanding of the issues affecting you, a better chance for developing and implementing a multi-system plan to address these issues and ultimately, a better chance of helping you to make lasting changes.

It is the unique combination of our specific genetic makeup and cumulative life experiences that determines how each of us perceive and relate to the world around us. Our highly trained clinicians are committed to remaining unbiased and nonjudgmental in all interactions with our clients. YOU are the most essential part of therapy, in fact, the direction of therapy will be guided by you... the client!

While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life and we can make sure that your body has what it needs to function maximally so that you are feeling well enough to appreciate the beauty which already exists in yourself and your life. Wellness is achieved through self-empowerment, effective communication skills, emotional regulation, tolerance for negative emotions, healthy relationships, integrity of spirit, mind & body, and capacity for peace & joy.

Tori Kinberger

In addition to her kind heart and a great depth of compassion for those in need, Sheila's extensive background in business management (accounting, bookkeeping, finance, retail, etc.) is an invaluable asset to our team. Through personal experiences of living with and caring for close relatives diagnosed with acute and chronic mental (and medical) health conditions, she brings a unique perspective to our practice setting.  Sheila is also a staunch advocate for the rights of individuals with mental health issues. We are lucky to have her on our team.

Tori is a second year undergraduate student at the University of New Orleans with a major in psychology. Her long-term plan is to obtain her doctorate in animal psychology. She LOVES cats! While Tori is working on her bright and promising future career path, she is currently employed with Intuitive Wellness Center LLC as office assistant. We are very grateful that she has chosen to be part of our incredible team.
